Tappeto Volante Projects is pleased to present In Case You Missed It, a group exhibition marking the gallery's second presentation at its new Tribeca location. Bringing together artists who have previously exhibited with the gallery in solo and two-person exhibitions, the exhibition revisits a selection of works that have shaped Tappeto Volante's program during its first five years in Brooklyn.

Founded in Gowanus, Brooklyn, in 2020 during the early months of the pandemic, Tappeto Volante Projects emerged from a commitment to fostering meaningful encounters with art and community at a moment of profound uncertainty. Since its founding, the gallery has developed a program spanning generations, dedicated to supporting emerging, underrecognized, and self-taught artists through sustained relationships and artistic dialogue.

In Case You Missed It brings together works by artists whose exhibitions have left a lasting mark on the gallery's history. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, textiles, and installations reflect the breadth of practices that have defined Tappeto Volante since its founding. Presented together, these works offer an opportunity to revisit key moments in the gallery's development while reconsidering them within the context of a new chapter in Tribeca

The exhibition's title refers, with both humor and sincerity, to the distance that often kept visitors from making the journey to Gowanus during the gallery's years in Brooklyn. For many, visiting the space required a deliberate commitment. The opening of the Tribeca location creates a new context for these encounters, bringing an important part of the gallery's history to Lower Manhattan while introducing the program to new audiences.

Included in the exhibition are works by founding members JJ Manford, Jared Deery, and Elisa Soliven, whose artistic visions have profoundly shaped the gallery's curatorial direction. Their inclusion also honors a principle that has guided Tappeto Volante since its beginning: artists creating opportunities for other artists. Generosity, collaboration, and mutual support remain central to the gallery's identity and continue to inform its future.

The exhibition necessarily represents only a portion of the gallery's history. Spatial limitations made it impossible to include every artist who has exhibited with Tappeto Volante over the past five years. This exhibition is dedicated equally to all of the artists who have entrusted the gallery with their work. The history of Tappeto Volante has been shaped collectively through exhibitions, conversations, friendships, shared labor, and enduring acts of generosity.

As Tappeto Volante enters this new phase in Tribeca, In Case You Missed It offers both an introduction to the gallery's history and an affirmation of the values that continue to guide its program. Looking back at these first five years provides an occasion to reflect on the relationships that made the gallery possible and to consider the paths that lie ahead.
