La Banda 2025

The inaugural edition of La Banda emerged in 2021 as a response to the socio-cultural disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Conceived as a catalyst for reestablishing community bonds, the project underscored the critical role of art in times of collective adversity. Each member of Tappeto Volante Projects invited a selection of artists, resulting in a dynamic exhibition that celebrated diversity while reaffirming the interconnectedness of artistic communities. This initiative evolved into a ritualized practice with subsequent editions in 2023 and 2024, each iteration expanding on the principles of inclusivity and artistic exchange that define Tappeto Volante's mission.

The title La Banda is a deliberate reference to The Blues Brothers, a film in which the protagonists reunite their band to save an orphanage central to their upbringing. This narrative serves as a metaphorical framework for Tappeto Volante’s vision: the preservation and revitalization of creative spaces where underrepresented artists, performers, and curators can realize their projects in an environment that celebrates equity and shared purpose. The exhibition becomes a performative and symbolic act of reunification, resistance, and renewal—of both the art community and the values it seeks to embody.

The fourth edition of La Banda invites viewers to engage with a rich tapestry of artistic voices, offering a lens through which to consider themes of community, identity, and perseverance.
